The African Institute on Trade and International Relations is an institution devoted to bringing Africa together through intra-trade and investment. The Institute contributes towards long-term sustainable capacity building in trade and investment in Africa, support the objectives of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), and Africa’s effective integration into the multilateral trading system. As an institution with regional and international focus, we work to bridge the gap between trade policies, law, economics, political science and development.
At AFRITIR, we work with governments, private sector and civil society to bridge the economic and social divide by bringing new perspectives to policy formulation and implementation through a coordinated approach. AFRITIR draws on the combined experience and consulting capability of economic, trade, negotiations, communication, legal, public policy and private sector experts to provide cutting edge educational and consulting services.
The goal of AFRITIR is to assist African countries under the auspices of the AfCFTA to strengthen their institutional capacity, both public and private, which would lead to ensuring that the legal provisions of the AfCFTA are adhered to and important link between economic growth and poverty reduction by creating jobs are made a high priority.

The AFRITIR brings together advanced training in trade law and economics, coordinated research and advisory services. AFRITIR attracts policy-makers, students, researchers, faculty, government officials and private sector operators and to interact and strengthen the trade relations between African countries and ensure the gains from trade are secured as part of the steps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
